SEPTEMBER 1 — DC Local to Global hosts their (almost) monthly community potluck at the Edgewood Community Farm (Details)
SEPTEMBER 2 — Every Wednesday, Fela hosts morning yoga and coffee at Civic On Eighth. Come to stretch, stay to be social! (Tickets)
SEPTEMBER 3 — At Transformer, Linda Kuo with guest facilitator Shreya Basu host a workshop on sequential art. At the end, class will make a collaborative zine that no one would’ve been able to predict. (Details)
SEPTEMBER 3 —It’s another edition of Ōnder Ōns supper club, the dinner that puts diners face-to-face with new, emerging works housed at D.C.’s art galleries. The waitlist is open to join (Details)
SEPTEMBER 4 — 11:Eleven, a woman-owned art gallery getting cozy in its new home downtown, is hosting a First Friday happy hour. Free to all — bring your family visiting for the holiday. (Details)
SEPTEMBER 5 — Well, really the whole weekend: it’s the fourth annual ZAP Outdoorz music festival. Yes, it’s outside of D.C. but it’s basically D.C. alt baddie central. (Tickets)
SEPTEMBER 6 — MotorMouth welcomes you in for their next workshop at Rhizome: a session to practice how you utilize physical multimedia in your DIY endeavors. (Details)
SEPTEMBER 10 — Back to Transformer for a workshop about how to make a flipbook, led by illustrator Adam Griffiths in the gallery’s series about comics. (Details)
SEPTEMBER 10 — “America: The Game” opens at the Union Station gallery featuring works by over 30 artists depicting the rules and rivalries that make up being an American. Curated by Brandon Hill and Jason Bowers. (Details)
SEPTEMBER 12 — Art Enables opens their next exhibition, “Outside Forces.” Shelby implores you to visit Art Enables “If you want to see what exciting exhibition design looks like.” (Details)
SEPTEMBER 12 — Milkcrate and Boy Fruit host their first-ever joint event, a community market called Strawberry Milk (yum ok) (Details)
SEPTEMBER 13 — Freight Gallery, yes, named so because it’s located in a freight elevator, shows a new experimental film called Bread + Circus (Details)
SEPTEMBER 13 — Yours truly is hosting the first (that I know of) wine night at Showtime Lounge in Bloomingdale. See you there (Details TBA)
SEPTEMBER 15 — The next F+F newsletter arrives!!!
SEPTEMBER 16 — An artists’ panel discussion at Pyramid Atlantic on a new collection called RUMINATIONS, where they discuss what it’s like to use and be challenged by paper (Details)
SEPTEMBER 16 — Local artist Diane D’Costa holds a craft night for educators at Mount Pleasant’s Living Room (Details)
SEPTEMBER 17 — A reception for the artists featured in Gallery Y’s (My) Favorite. The YMCA can really do it all. (Details)
SEPTEMBER 17 — Finally! The one year anniversary of VINO VERITE, our monthly wine bar in Mount Pleasant. Maybe I will finally DJ? (Details TBA)
SEPTEMBER 18 — Friends of F+F Capital City Soundsystem are hosting the first-ever show at Capitol Hill Books. I feel like y’all would go crazy for this one. (Tickets)
SEPTEMBER 19 — Rewind’s got another night of storytellers lined up. Sit and be moved. (Tickets)
SEPTEMBER 19 — DJ Kush Jones headlines the first-ever Group Project, a fun party hosted by Chije and Madalin. Dancing all night at Doubles and also “yearbook” photos. (Tickets)
SEPTEMBER 21 — This Monday (and every Monday) is open decks at Showtime. Bring your vinyl and come early to get a spot. (Details)
SEPTEMBER 24 — It’s the closing party of Hamiltonian Artists’ current exhibition ‘i’ll meet you there’ but make sure you go to Eaton House for this event (Details)
SEPTEMBER 25 — District Clay Center’s got another Queer Clay Class led by ceramicist Diane D’Costa. If you’re gonna go, get the ticket now because it will sell out. (Tickets)
SEPTEMBER 26 — Cultural bridges will be built at Dolls B2B Bears, a fundraiser for queer + trans youth health at Transmission (Tickets)
SEPTEMBER 27 – Head back to Pyramid Atlantic to get a tour of RUMINATIONS with the actual curator Helen Frederick (Details)
SEPTEMBER 27 — We’re turning Domestique Wine into a listening room during the weekly wine tasting (always free). DJ Kenny M is slated to join to play some records he loves. (Details TBA)
SEPTEMBER 28 — Jazz Night with Peyman is back at Suns Cinema (Details)
